  11.                       - there's now a global BestModeID() patch available
  12.                         as Aminet:util/sys/ModeP.lha
  13.                       - there were problems with 16 Bit grayscaled images
  14.                         (-> Magnus Holmgren)
  15.                       - the 16 Bit bug was a side effect of a wrongly
  16.                         handled pixel_depth check, thus perhaps it would
  17.                         have happened with other bit_depth 16 images as well
  18.                       - removed some misinterpretable information
  19.                         on 16 bit (highcolor) modes, which are not
  20.                         allowed with PNG, with the exception of
  21.                         16 Bit grayscaled images

  23.                       - added an overview table of valid PNG depth
  24.                         combinations (refering to the specification)
  25.                       - re-introduced "wm32 magic fix"
  26.                       - __inline'd HAM code also, now

  31.                         appeared even more memory loss, since setjmp'ing
  32.                         of the PNG sources did cause some high level
  33.                         allocations not to be delocated - this mainly
  34.                         did concern the non-V43 modes
  35.                       - gfx mode selection now a little bit more
  36.                         AGA sensitive, ModeP patch still recommended, though
  37.                       - tested compatibility by viewing Willem van Schaik's
  38.                         "PNG Test Suite" in V40 ordered dithering 8 Bit mode
  39.                         (http://www.wco.com/~png/pngsuite.html). When there
  40.                         is enough (chip) memory, all pictures seem to be
  41.                         handled and displayed correctly (now). On the page
  42.                         there are samples for all types of images (depth
  43.                         combinations) as mentioned in the PNG Suite
  44.                         Documentation. If you find anything not displayed
  45.                         correctly, though: please tell me. Note, that
  46.                         gamma correction is not applied (no need to
  47.                         mention).
  48.                       - 2..128 color images no longer imported as 256
  49.                         color images (2 still as 4, though), this also
  50.                         saves (chip) memory...

  52.                       - fixed bug in reading 24 Bit + alpha channel images

  73.  akPNG.datatype is a new PNG datatype, which is based on the
  74.  latest PNG sources (zlib V1.0.4, libpng 1.0 beta 4 - version 0.90).

  76.  So it does support 8 Bit color mapped files (colorspace expanded to
  77.  8 bit per component always) and True color files (24/48 Bit, alpha
  78.  channel ignored, 48 Bit 16:16:16 cut down to 24 Bit 8:8:8).

  81.  With V39-V42 picture.datatype it either produces (upto) 256 color
  82.  palette-based or HAM6/8 output (256 colors exported unmodified,
  83.  24 Bit data either dithered or converted to HAM6/HAM8) with
  84.  Ralph Schmidt's picture.datatype V43 24 Bit may be done unmodified.
